The Vans manual recommends making a nutplate of sorts to store the wing tie down rings. Here, a thick piece of aluminum has been drilled and tapped to accept the ring. The alum piece was then riveted from the bottom up into the gusset behind the rear pax seat back. Hey, every little thing you can do to get parasitic drag out of the air is good right? *Look at the shadow under the gusset to see the aluminum block.
